Inspiring Talk.. TED (PROJECT)

After watching numerous videos on www.ted.com/talks this video really got me thinking about Education.
After watching the video I began thinking about ‘Human Creativity’. Every single Human being is different, and children have a variety of talents. Some are stronger at things than others, but the education system across the world are the same subjects, taught it different ways. Those young people who grow up to become lecturers could be at an advantage, they work well within the lines of academic work. However not everyone does, and some people struggle to just sit behind a desk and read academic information.
More and more schools today are beginning to intertwine subjects, with Maths being taught in PE and English being taught in Drama. This allows for the whole class of children who have a range of learning styles to be in with the chance of learning to their best standard. My teaching Maths in PE it allows children to be creative with their movements, but also learn number. The same with Drama, children can act and be free, but be learning an English play at the same time.
It’s important that children are allowed to be creative within their school lives. It is important that there is a balance, of course Math and English are important, but children need to be creative to be humans, rather than what society thinks.

It also made me realise we have no idea of the future of education. Education is changing all the time, and although the key figures involved such as parents, teachers, governors and students will remain the same throughout time, what’s at the core of education changes.
The future is unpredictable; we don’t know how education is going to be next year, let alone in 25 years’ time. What we do know is that parents and teachers will always play a fundamental role in the education system. Parents especially play a pivotal role in influencing their children’s educational life, so it’s important that they are kept informed of the changes to the education system, aswel as how their child learns best. Learning doesn’t just occur in the classroom, there’s a whole world to learn from, in many different and creative ways.
From a young age we all have dreams. Children have the capability to put these into practice, if pushed in the right direction. It is important that their skills and talents and also their weaknesses are recognised and developed. It’s important to push the boundaries and allow children to be educated out of their capacities; this way children can push themselves even further, at their own pace and make their extraordinary capabilities even more extraordinary.
